Zach Tetreault
The Drummer Reimagining the Music Festival
Zach Tetreault began his career as a drummer for Los Angeles art rock band Hundred Waters. His first endeavor as an experience maker began as an album release show for the band and a few other artists n 2014. That morphed into FORM Arcosanti, a non-traditional festival that takes place over three days in the Arizona desert and includes an eclectic group of musicians and artists, plant-based food, discussions, installations and new technologies. Attendance is free, but participants must apply, and are invited for their creativity, thoughtfulness, and intention. “Every year we kind of learn and discover things that we can do across the site to make this experience even more immersive,” Zach says. While Acrosanti has been on hiatus since 2019, Zach and the team at FORM launched FWB Fest in Idyllwild, CA, in 2022 — “an intimate and immersive festival where digital culture and nature harmonize to create a utopic community experience.” Zach has added other alternative festivals and projects to his resume. He’s also joined the Apple team as a creative producer and brand experience strategist.
Projects
Zach has taken a less is best approach to his popular, laid-back music anti-festival FORM Arcosanti set in an experimental eco-city developed in 1970 by Italian architect Paolo Soleri. His goal? To counter over-development by creating spaces that honor the natural landscape. The festival aligns with this mission by promoting “an alternative way of living and a more lean and sustainable way of life.” Zach’s latest anti-festival creation is FWB Fest, a collaboration with Friends with Benefits “Mayor” Alex Zhang. Their goal? To create an experiential destination event that is an opportunity for the FWB community to meet in person and make lifelong connections while shaping the digital future. Launched in 2022, the annual weekend — dubbed the “Crypto Woodstock” by the Washington Post — features intimate performances, in-depth discussions, a natural wine garden, ambient sound baths for sipping mushroom tea, and late-night stargazing. Also in 2022, Zach (and FORM) were tapped by Florence + the Machine and Live Nation to produce the Dance Fever album launch event at the Los Angeles Theater.
